Getting into the holiday spirit this St. Patrick’s Day shouldn’t mean donning a tacky felt hat from the pub as part of a novelty outfit, but rather making others green with style-envy due to your sartorial choices. With 40 different shades it can be hard to know where to start when wearing green, so we have prepared some outfit suggestions that will give you with the luck of the Irish!
Suited & Booted
Introduce some green to your work wardrobe without looking gimmicky by accenting a neutral coloured jacket with a green tie or pair of socks. Don’t go wild here, two options are more than enough! Alternatively, swap out one of the accessories for a forest green V neck jumper in fine-gauge merino or cashmere to celebrate the holiday!
The Night Out
They don’t call it one of the biggest drinking holidays in the calendar for no reason, and if you’re heading out on Saturday evening to find your pot of gold you’ll need to be looking dapper. Dress to impress in a patterned shirt and slim black jean. We’ve decided to pair our favourite loafers in green suede to show we really mean business. Layer a white tee underneath the shirt if you need additional layers, and hit the town hard!
Daytime Drinking
Spending the day outside at one of the many parades or outdoor events? Start off with a casual check shirt and indigo denim combination and layer a classic jacket to keep the cold out like this Barbour. You’re going to be on your feet all day, so a comfortable trainer or boot is the best option when it comes to footwear. Accessorise with a hat and be sure to bring a bag to prepare you for anything!
Smart/ Casual
Feeling lucky? Go bold by throwing a coloured chino into the mix. You can be as brave as you like here, as long as you are smart and maintain some balance. Let your legs do the talking in khaki, sage or moss green and pair with a lighter, neutral coloured shirt- keep a few buttons open for a more casual look. Finish this look off with a pair of loafers or brogues in brown for a classically styled look that lasts longer than just St. Paddys!
